The Mystic Monocle Magazine

Word Caterpillar

Clue 1

There are no rules to this game, but something has to go in those circles…

Clue 2

Horses for courses? I’m sure we’ve seen horses and courses around here somewhere.

Clue 3

Our agents think that we need to write the names of two of the horses in the bubbles.

Clue 4

Have you worked out which two horses they should be? - maybe the Hot Tips card will help with that.

Clue 5

The horses are Reggie Braveheart and Snappy Anorak. They were hinted to from the big number puzzle and the Hot Tips card.

Clue 6

When you write their names in the bubbles it spells ‘Green Park’ across the middle - that is the answer to this one!

The Secret Language

Clue 1

These ciphers must be useful for translating some sort of code. We are still sifting through the evidence but hopefully, we’ll find some leads on that one soon.

Clue 2

Our scientists have found some concrete links between this article, and a couple of the photographs provided. Perhaps try there.

Clue 3

There are definitely two ciphers in the magazine that can translate the codes in the photos.

Clue 4

Looks like the ciphertext on page one of the magazine could be used to translate the code in the photo with the lined notebook paper. The diagrammatic cipher on page two should translate the other photo with code on.

Squiggly Line Maze

Clue 1

I might give this one to my kids later, but for now, we’re lost in a maze of squiggles. They all lead somewhere. Looks like each item on the left could be interpreted as a tube station from the map - and potentially a target!

Clue 2

Our experts have worked out that the pictures on the left could mean Baker Street, Cannon Street, Bank, Angel and Bond Street - all are tube Stations around London.

Clue 3

I think we’ll need to find a link to one of these 5 tube stations in order to find the correct item from the right.

Clue 4

We found it!

If you bought this game before March 10th 2021, then Angel Station popped up in a photo that Barry Briggs had posted to Google!

If you bought this game after March 10th 2021, then there was an angel in the box on the schrodinger's cat website - the link to this can be found using the Roamer Robot Directions in the magazine.

Follow the line next to Angel and it leads to the umbrella! That must be a link right there!

THE MYSTIC MONOCLE MAGAZINE

Music Article

Clue 1

Our audio team have been looking into this. We have deduced that the symbols on the left are Spotify, Soundcloud, iTunes, Napster and Bandcamp.

Clue 2

We think that this is a hint towards finding an account online - perhaps one of those listed on the left. Maybe there is a helpful clue there somewhere.

Clue 3

Did you notice the clue with Barry Briggs’s Soundcloud account on it? Try going there and check out who he’s following.

Clue 4

Barry Brigg’s Soundcloud account is liking and following various artists, many of which are a wild goose chase, but one of which is called Battleships. This will lead to a new clue…

Live Neutral Earth Shoppe Advert

Clue 1

Looks like a bunch of hippy claptrap to me. Maybe something in here can tie to another clue though… Maybe the prices are helpful.

Clue 2

Our agents have linked this to the receipt that was found - which says L.N.E.S at the top. Looks like Danny had been shopping there.

Clue 3

Danny had a receipt for £14 - this was the exact price of the Salt Rock lamp. We deduce that one of the devices must be a salt rock lamp. But where? Maybe there’s something in the name…?

Clue 4

Live, neutral and earth - That’s what the wires in plugs are called. This clue - and therefore the salt rock lamp - links to the plug photo.

Kids’ Colouring Page

Clue 1

Looks like some colouring needs to be done here… is that a mushroom at the bottom?

Clue 2

These cars look to be a Porsche, a Mercedes, and a BMW. Now, where have I seen these cars before? And what colours were they? Maybe mushrooms have been mentioned elsewhere too?

Clue 3

Maybe What Three Words could help with this one… I’ve sent my top agent off to inspect it in satellite mode to see what shows up. When we have found the colours, we suspect that the colour palette might be handy. Maybe there’s a sum here somewhere? Perhaps the mushroom links to the total of the sum. us.

Clue 4

We found it! The cars are all pointed to by the locations given by the ‘What Three Words’ clue. The Porsche is yellow (60492), the Mercedes is green (73399) and the BMW is blue (10435). They make up the sum 60492 + 73399 - 10435, which equals, if you can believe it, 123456! We could have bloomin’ guessed that one!

Clue 5

The mushroom dot-to-dot links to the mushroom clue, and Oxford Circus

THE MYSTIC MONOCLE MAGAZINE (pre March 2021)

Hair Article

Clue 1

I don’t go in much for hairstyles, but perhaps there’s another link to hair somewhere that could help us here? We haven’t found it yet.

Clue 2

The article suggests Googling salons. We’re going to try Googling ‘God First Beauty Salon’ to see what data they provide.

Clue 3

Still struggling? Us too… We can’t find anything in Google images. Perhaps the salon is listed in Google maps…?

Clue 4

There is a photo that Barry Briggs uploaded to Google with a cat in it. The cat is outside of Angel tube station… This looks like a link to other cats, and maybe there’s an angel somewhere that might help too?

THE MYSTIC MONOCLE MAGAZINE (PRE MARCH 2021)

God First Beauty Salon Advert

Clue 1

Looks like a nice place to go for a trim. Maybe they’re listed online.

Clue 2

Wasn’t there another article that mentioned hair? Maybe I’ll get our agents to give it a Google to see what comes up.

Clue 3

We found this place - it was in Dalston, but it isn’t there anymore. We think it definitely links to the hair article now though. Perhaps follow the clues in there.

Clue 4

Finally, we got this one - God First Beauty Salon has online images, and Barry Briggs had uploaded a picture there! What a slimeball! It was a picture of a cat outside Angel tube station. That must be a link to the other cat clues, and maybe an angel somewhere…?

THE MYSTIC MONOCLE MAGAZINE

Cat Article

Clue 1

We have brought in our animal specialists to take a look at this one. We’re not sure that the article holds true, but we have definitely spotted cats in a couple of places - this must be a link somehow!

Clue 2

Our experts think that this might have something to do with cats reading, and in particular, reading just one line.

Clue 3

We’re pretty sure that this article is a link between two other clues - something about the first lines of books, and another clue with a cat in it.

Clue 4

We’ve found the link!

If you bouht this game before March 10th 2021, then this clue ties the clue with the first lines of books, to the image of a cat outside a tube station! That Barry sure is a sneaky character.

If you bought it after March 10th 2021, then then this clue ties the clue with the first lines of books, to the schrodinger's cats website - where you should find another useful link ;)

THE MYSTIC MONOCLE MAGAZINE (POST MARCH 2021)

Roamer Robot Directions

Clue 1

Ever seen one of these before? I think they take directions.

Clue 2

Try following the directions below the grid, and see what letters and digits you land on.

Clue 3

Start by going forward 1 space, then turn to the right, and go forward one more space. Write the digit in the box. Try to remember which way you are facing.

Clue 4

Got the digits? we got: bit.ly/2Md7TEm - looks like a website!

Clue 5

Make sure you get the caps and lower case letters in the right places

Clue 6

If you go to this website you should find something useful

Clue 7

The website has a box - and in the box is a cat. It's neither alive nor dead... until you open it. And after a few clicks an angel appears. Now where have I seen an angel before, and how could it link to cats?

Battleships

Clue 1

We’ve been in touch with our special maritime division and they are working on this clue as we speak. They haven’t got anything from it yet - perhaps more clues are needed?

Clue 2

We think this might tie in with the Soundcloud clue - have you found that one yet? Maybe work on getting that one sorted and see what comes up.

Clue 3

The Soundcloud clue definitely helped our agents with this one - they have marked all of the locations on the grid, but what now?

Clue 4

The targets that the Soundcloud clue gives are: B4, F7, H6, I9, J8, G3, C1, H7, H4, I7, E7, D2. Fill in those squares on the battleships grid and you should see the number 74 in the space between all the ships and filled-in squares. What do we need to do with that, this must link with other numbers we’ve found?

Clue 5

Did you get the text message? This is the space between vessels!
